History of JMC

In the beginning ……..
During the Annual Conference of the Canadian Chinese Alliance Churches Association (CCACA), held at the Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church in 1979, the motion of organizing a Missions Conference was passed. After three years of planning under the chairmanship of Dr. Stephen Ho, a member of the Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church, the first Missions Conference was held at the Canadian Bible College in Regina in 1982. Regina is the birthplace of the first Chinese Alliance church in Canada & the Canadian Bible College was established by the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada. The theme, “One Billion Souls”, was chosen after the gospel song, “A Hundred Thousand Souls”, written by Rev. A.B. Simpson, founder of our denomination. It attracted 800 attendees and many of them responded to God’s calling to serve as missionaries. The late Rev. Paul Siu was one of them. As our first Missions Conference stirred up fervor for missionary work that other Chinese churches across Canada requested to organize the Conference with us in 1985, 1988 & 1992 respectively. When they expressed no desire to organize any more conference after 1992, the Executives of CCACA decided to host the first Joint Missions Conference (JMC) at the Canadian Bible College in Regina in 1997. There were more than 800 in attendance. God’s grace has been lavished upon us since. Glory be to the Lord of the harvest!

JMC 2019 News
December 25, 2018

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The registration campaign for the upcoming Joint Missions Conference 2019 (JMC 2019) sponsored by the Canada Chinese Alliance Churches Association (CCACA) has just begun.

The two-day Conference will begin in the evening of July 12 (Friday) and end in the afternoon of July 14, 2019 (Sunday). This time, the event will be held in the Greater Vancouver area of Richmond, B.C. The Conference has adopted the following theme:

“Ordinary Life, Extraordinary Calling”

The Cantonese speaker will be Dr. Philemon Choi, founder of the Break Through Ministry, and chairman of CCCOWE. The Mandarin speaker will be Rev. Yung, a senior missionary in Asia. The English speaker will be Rev. Jacky Lau who is the Global Track Leader of the Global Mission of the C&MA in Canada.

To provide incentive for our participants, conference registration fee will be WAIVED for those who registered on or before March 31, 2019. In that case, they would only need to look after their own expenses on their personal transportation, room & board. We trust that our operating budget needs will be met through the freewill love offerings by our brothers and sisters.

Besides the key-note speakers, we have also arranged a number of our International Workers to share their overseas experience at a number of Greater Vancouver area alliance churches either during their Sunday worship services or Sunday school classes. Our hope is that through this special arrangement with our local churches, our brothers and sisters will become more connected with our missionaries who have many life-changing stories to share.

As an extra treat, a “Hong Kong Missions Night” program will be presented just before the JMC weekend on July 10 in Richmond and again on July 11 in Vancouver. The program is a joint production by the Hong Kong Alliance Mission, the Hong Kong Cornerstone Association, and the C&MA Hong Kong District Office. Main languages used will be Cantonese and Mandarin

Please set aside the time from July 10-14 this summer to seize the opportunity to participate in these great events. I look forward to seeing you all in Richmond, in the beautiful province of British Columbia in Canada.
