Love Beyond The Horizon

The Chinese In Israel

In 2008, a CCTV (Chinese Central Television) Program “Witness, a Journey of Discovery” made a feature film named “Beyond the Horizon”. It shows Pollard’s missions work in the Shimenkan area of Weining County in Guizhou Province. Because of this film, we have named this book “Love Beyond the Horizon”.

Jesus said, “Love your neighbour”. Far beyond the horizon are millions of people loved by Jesus. Jesus commands that we do not forget them, that we love them like He does, and that we work for them as He would.

“In the history of all ethnic groups and in the struggle for survival, they (the Miao people) are not significant in number. But they are still flowers in God’s heart. Once again, God has chosen the weak of the earth.” From Pollard’s The Story of the Miao.

For Pollard, Shimenkan in Guizhou was the land beyond his horizon. Are you a modern day Samuel Pollard? Where is your horizon?

Forging Future with Tradition

The History and Development of Chinese Alliance Churches in Canada

It will include a research on the Biblical foundation of church planting and its practical steps, a brief history of the founder of C&MA Dr. A.B. Simpson and the C&MA, the history of church planting by the Chinese Alliance churches in Canada, and a brief history of the founding of all these churches. This latter item will be used as examples in an analysis of the four modes of church planting. The analysis will concentrate on the strategies used in missionary church planting and the factors of growth.

Most of the materials in this book came from Rev. Chiang’s distinguished Doctor of Ministry dissertation. May God’s blessings and grace be with Rev. Chiang’s future service. Because pure historical documents can often be dull, we put deliberate effort in collecting many photos from various Chinese Alliance churches and adding photos of activities organized by CCACA in the past 10 years so that the book can be more lively and readable.

The Tribe of Caleb

Serving in The Golden Years

This book has been written for those who are facing an aging congregation in a church and are looking for solutions to address the challenge. The Tribe of Caleb project has demonstrated success in mobilizing Cantonese-speaking senior Christians to re-engage in church ministries. Even though the work was conducted in a Cantonese-speaking congregation, the principles have potential cross-culturally and are transferable to other ethnic and non-ethnic churches with due consideration given to other factors affecting their ministry context.

The Beginnings of The Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada

This account covers the development of the Alliance movement in Canada from its inception in 1882 unit 1919. For the first 29 of those 37 years, the unchallenged “dean of the corps” was the Rev. John Salmon. A pragmatist par excellence, he rigourously forged the features of Alliance character according to the lessons he had learned during the great spiritual crises of his own life. “The Preparation” is a biography of his early life.

This account is more than a record of events. It is the story of the men and women, wealthy and poor, educated and unlearned, titled and common, who made the events happen. Because of their convictions, devotion and daring, the Alliance message was planted and cultivated throughout southern Ontario, in Quebec, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia by the close of Edwardian times.

The Cross of Christ

A.B. Simpson was a Canadian preacher, theologian and author with an emphasis on global evangelism. This Book is one of his finest works focused on Jesus Christ.

The Fourfold Gospel

The title of this little volume, “The Fourfold Gospel,” has been a familiar phrase to thousands of God’s children during the past forty years. Not that the truths contained in the statement were unknown before, but the grouping of them in this form was given to Dr. A. B. Simpson after he had happily experienced the fullness of the Gospel in his own life.

The unfolding of these four phases of the Gospel will be made fascinatingly clear to the reader of this book. It is well worthy of thoughtful and prayerful study, and best of all of appropriating the full-orbed message-the all-sufficient Christ for spirit, soul, and body.

The Self Life and The Christ Life

Evangelical A.B. Simpson applies his keen mind to 19th-century society in a way that us still sharp to this day. He draws a clear distinction between the life we imagine for ourselves and the life we should lead. As a society driven by self-indulgence and ego, Simpson teaches us that all the vanity is a mere distraction from the true life with Christ in us.
